Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid only)

Type: Full-Time

Studio Size:  Small, collaborative indie team

Project: Mutant Forge a PvP Mobile Strategy Game (iOS & Android)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Senior Unity Mobile Game Developer to join our small but mighty team in Seattle. You will play a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of Mutant Forge, our inaugural real-time PvP mobile strategy game, contributing to both core gameplay systems and live ops tooling. As a senior member of the team, you'll be deeply involved in technical decision-making, mentoring, and shaping the future of the project alongside artists, designers, and other engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain high-quality Unity C# gameplay systems for a competitive PvP mobile experience
  • Collaborate with game designers to prototype and iterate on strategy-based mechanics, unit interactions, and game balance
  • Build and refine user interfaces, animations, VFX, and input systems tailored for mobile devices
  • Work closely with backend developers on all aspects of the game, including matchmaking, data synchronization, and real-time battles
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce clean architecture practices, and contribute to a robust technical roadmap
  • Integrate 3rd-party SDKs (e.g., Ads, Analytics, In-App Purchases, Push Notifications, Firebase, Photon)
  • Monitor and address performance, memory, and device compatibility issues across a wide range of mobile hardware
  • Support live operations, hotfixes, and client update cycles
  • Mentor junior developers and help grow a high-performance engineering culture

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional Unity experience, with at least 2 shipped mobile titles (PvP or strategy genre preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in C#, Unity engine architecture, and mobile performance optimization
  • Experience with real-time multiplayer gameplay and client-server synchronization models
  • Deep understanding of mobile development lifecycles (iOS and Android), including app store submission and patching
  • Familiarity with a wide range of C#/Unity features including addressables, asset bundles, reflection, async/await, and scriptable object design patterns
  • Comfortable working in git, agile environments, and collaborative tools like Trello, Notion, and Slack
  • A passion for games—especially strategy, tactics, or competitive multiplayer formats

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with backend-as-a-service platforms (PlayFab, Photon, Nakama, or custom solutions)
  • Full stack familiarity and comfort with using backend/analytics tools like custom dashboards, Firebase, Mixpanel
  • Shader programming (HLSL) or VFX graph familiarity
  • Contributions to published tools, plugins, or open-source Unity projects
  • Strong interest in player retention, matchmaking systems, and live ops strategy
  • UI/UX polish and animation systems experience on mobile
  • A gamer's mindset and an indie studio spirit—creative, scrappy, and adaptable

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and profit-sharing opportunities
  • Flexible hours and remote-friendly culture
  • Small, tight-knit team with creative freedom and ownership
  • The chance to make a big impact on a unique PvP strategy game in a growth phase
  • Opportunities to grow into leadership or technical director roles
