About the Role

As a Senior Web Engineer on the Geocore team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining a suite of Web tools used by thousands of Engineers, Product Ops, and other employees at Uber to visualize and configure Ubers geospatial platform. Uber is a business that is powered by moving people, food, groceries, etc from Point A to Point B. Our Geocore platform defines the physical boundaries where different products (e.g., Uber X, Uber Eats) are allowed to operate in the world and what experiences our users see in the app. You will work with a variety of tools and technologies including Javascript, Node.js, React.js, Go, and Java to support Uber's vast geospatial needs.

What You Will Do

• Design and implement an enhanced UI for our geospatial platform technologies, providing operations with tooling to control the Uber marketplace.
• Build web tooling to facilitate incident management capabilities for Uber's critical services.
• Design reusable UI components to be used across various tools and services.
• Develop capabilities to visualize real-time geospatial events as they happen.
• Guide the team on web practices to modernize our web stack.

Basic Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient in Javascript/Typescript, CSS, Node.js, and Front End frameworks.
• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining web applications.
• Excellent coding skills with a high standard for quality and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience shipping high-quality product features on schedule.
• Experience implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies.
• Familiarity with principles of good user experience.
• Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including requirements gathering and detailed design documentation.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $198,000 - $220,000 per year.

Offices are central to collaboration and Ubers cultural identity. Unless approved for fully remote work, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office.
