As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager or Director to lead our procurement efforts and support our mission of operational excellence.

Position Overview:

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the full procurement cycle—from sourcing and vendor negotiation to inventory control and material planning. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires strong attention to detail, deep manufacturing industry knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using Epicor ERP software , a strong background in industrial manufacturing, and a proven ability to manage supplier relationships and purchasing personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Leadership: Lead all purchasing activities, including the development and execution of sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong vendor relationships. Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to support company goals.
  • Inventory Oversight: Maintain optimal inventory levels through careful demand forecasting, cycle counts, and just-in-time procurement strategies.
  • Order Management: Place, track, and expedite purchase orders to ensure uninterrupted material flow and production timelines.
  • Supplier Development: Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to improve cost, quality, and lead times.
  • System Proficiency: Use Epicor ERP system daily for purchasing, inventory tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Team Supervision: Manage and mentor one purchasing agent; provide training, guidance, and performance reviews.
  • Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally with production, engineering, and finance teams to align purchasing with business needs.
  • Cost Optimization: Continuously analyze market trends and material costs to identify savings opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Compliance: Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial machining or metals industry strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency in Epicor ERP (required)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple vendors, contracts, and purchase categories
  • Experience supervising or mentoring purchasing staff
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred (not required if equivalent experience is demonstrated)
