About Your Role as an Instructional Paraprofessional An instructional paraprofessional assists in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment through assisting the classroom teacher and supporting school operations. Classroom assistance includes working directly with students to support instruction, grading papers, preparing materials, preparing classroom displays and co-planning with assigned teachers as needed. School operational support includes supervision duties and other duties as assigned. 

Compensation: $18.00 to $22.51 per hour
*Bromley recognizes up to 11 years of relevant experience

High-Level Responsibilities

  • Co-planning, delivering, and reflecting upon daily lesson plans with classroom teachers.
  • Assists in the supervision and activities for students.
  • Monitors and assists with child behavior management.
  • Monitors students in non-classroom settings, and assists with everyday situations.
  • Attend various meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic skills in instruction to guide learning of students in whole class, small group or 1:1 settings.
  • Basic ability to build relationships with students.
  • Intermediate ability to supervise and manage student behavior, recognize and respond to safety concerns./span>
  • Intermediate communication skills in English to deliver more complex information effectively, adapting communication styles for different audiences, including students of various levels. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Basic clerical skills; making copies, creating documents, flyers, posters or displays, grading papers, filing, organizing.
  • Basic technology skills to navigate the Google Suite, operate a projector or other classroom technology.

Education and Experience Needed to be Successful

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college preferred
  • Experience working with elementary/middle school-aged students preferred
