Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced, Director of Billing, to lead our billing department, ensure accurate reimbursement, and improve operational efficiency. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel at team leadership, this is the opportunity for you!

• Key Responsibilities: Supervise and evaluate billing staff, set expectations, and manage workflow
• Monitor Accounts Receivable balances daily, identify trends, and address variances
• Research charges, payments, adjustments, and resolve rejected or unpaid claims
• Manage patient accounts, collection accounts, and credit balances with accuracy
• Handle patient concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly
• Develop and implement workflows and policies to maximize reimbursement and efficiency
• Collaborate with clinical staff on pre-authorizations and pre-certifications
• Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for accuracy and ensure correct payment posting
• Stay updated on insurance carrier policies, credentialing, and regulatory changes
• Maintain relationships with insurance representatives to facilitate reimbursement
• Generate and analyze customized reports for practice management and strategic planning
• Troubleshoot computer and billing system issues; work with vendors and software providers
• Oversee updates to billing databases, fee schedules, and insurance information
• Coordinate with billing contractors and oversee monthly and annual billing tasks
• Support special projects and ongoing process improvements

• Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
• CPC certification is a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of billing/coding experience, including at least 1 year within a healthcare organization
• Orthopedic billing experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical billing practices, policies, and systems
• Proficiency with practice management software (Athena Practice preferred), Microsoft Office, and electronic claims processing
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively
