Job Description

About the Company

DBG Health is one of Australia’s largest pharmaceutical companies, dedicated to delivering innovative healthcare solutions across a ~$20 billion market. With a strong focus on in-licensing high-potential products from global markets, DBG Health partners with U.S. and international pharmaceutical firms to commercialize therapies in Australia, addressing critical needs in mental health, oncology, and rare diseases. Join our dynamic U.S. business development team in New York City to identify, screen, and qualify product opportunities, driving strategic growth and improving patient outcomes in Australia.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Pharmaceutical Data Analyst to join our U.S. business development team in New York City, with hybrid work options available. Reporting to the Head of Business Development (U.S.), this role supports the identification, screening, and qualification of U.S. pharmaceutical product opportunities for in-licensing to DBG Health for commercialization in Australia. The successful candidate will analyze large datasets, create professional PowerPoint presentations, and manage multiple deal schedules to ensure timely execution. The analyst will provide actionable insights on market trends, regulatory feasibility (e.g., TGA, PBS), and competitive landscapes. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in pharmaceutical analytics and business development in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Collect, clean, and analyze U.S. pharmaceutical data (e.g., sales, prescriptions, clinical trial outcomes) using Excel, SQL, and Tableau to evaluate in-licensing opportunities for Australia’s ~$20 billion market.
  • Assess product performance, market potential, and competitive positioning for U.S. products to inform deal prioritization.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as U.S. market share, pricing, and regulatory status to support strategic recommendations.
  • Track deal progress, timelines and deliverables – keeping track of specific requirements for each deal at each phase.

PowerPoint Slide Development:

  • Create professional, visually engaging PowerPoint presentations for internal stakeholders and potential U.S. partners, summarizing data insights, market analyses, and deal proposals.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise slides tailored to executive and client audiences, ensuring alignment with DBG Health’s in-licensing objectives.
  • Refine slide content based on feedback, maintaining high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines.

Deal Management and Scheduling:

  • Track and manage multiple in-licensing deals, ensuring timely execution of due diligence, negotiations, and agreements with U.S. firms.
  • Coordinate with Australian teams to align deal schedules with TGA approval processes and PBS listing requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of deal progress, using project management tools to ensure milestones are met.

Market Research and Regulatory Analysis:

  • Conduct secondary research on U.S. and Australian pharmaceutical markets, including epidemiology, treatment patterns, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., TGA’s ARTG, PBS listing).
  • Analyze competitive intelligence on U.S. products to assess in-licensing feasibility, market entry barriers, and unmet needs.
  • Support primary research by assisting in survey design or stakeholder interviews with U.S. manufacturers and Australian healthcare professionals to gather insights.

Compliance and Collaboration:

  • Ensure data handling complies with U.S. and Australian privacy regulations), critical for client trust.
  • Collaborate with Australian Business Development Team and Australian regulatory/market access teams to integrate quantitative and qualitative insights into deal strategies.
  • Contribute to process improvements, such as data quality checks, report automation, or PowerPoint template standardization.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Health Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced coursework or internships in pharmaceutical sciences or analytics preferred.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in data analysis, market research, or pharmaceutical business development (internships or academic projects acceptable). Familiarity with U.S. pharmaceutical datasets (e.g., IQVIA sales data, FDA approvals) or Australian regulatory processes (e.g., TGA, PBS) is a plus but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and PowerPoint for creating professional slide decks for client presentations. Basic knowledge of SQL for data querying and Tableau or Power BI for data visualization - helpful but not required. Strong quantitative skills, with experience in statistical methods (e.g., regression, trend analysis) an advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex data clearly in reports and PowerPoint slides. Ability to work collaboratively across U.S. and Australian teams, managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Curiosity about global pharmaceutical markets and eagerness to learn about in-licensing processes.
  • Other Requirements: Understanding of Australia’s TGA and PBS systems or willingness to learn, critical for assessing in-licensing feasibility. Eligibility to work in the U.S., with flexibility for hybrid work in NYC.

Preferred Skills

  • Internship or project experience analyzing U.S. pharmaceutical market data or competitive landscapes.
  • Exposure to health economics, Pharmacoeconomics, or regulatory affairs, particularly TGA/PBS processes or FDA approvals.
  • Familiarity with global pharmaceutical trends and data sources.
